When the lips dry out, we tend to lick them again and again. But saliva evaporates quickly and can actually make the dryness worse.
A rich homemade balm can create a pleasant protective layer and help keep the moisture in.

Place the shea butter and the beeswax in a heatproof bowl.
Melt gently over a pot of hot water, using the bain-marie method.
Remove from the heat and add the jojoba oil.
Mix well and pour into a clean, dry container.
Let the mixture cool and set.
Apply a thin layer on the lips as needed, especially before bed.
- One teaspoon of shea butter
- One teaspoon of jojoba oil
- Half a teaspoon of beeswax
- A small, clean container
There is no need to add cinnamon, mint or essential oils. On dry, cracked lips, such ingredients can cause irritation.
Because the balm contains no preservative, prepare a small amount, use a clean, dry tool, and discard it if a change appears in the smell, color or texture.
Why Is It Good?
Shea butter softens the skin, and the oil and wax help create a layer that reduces moisture loss.
